'Samurai' man jumped gate, boarded train at Paya Lebar MRT
The public transport operator said it has been alerted of the incident, and that its staff informed the police immediately. According to eyewitness reports, the man then alighted the train at City Hall MRT, and boarded the northbound train towards Jurong East. He got off at Dhoby Ghaut station.

A man who was reportedly armed with swords on the MRT at Dhoby Ghaut station appears to have been detained.

We have been alerted of the incident which took place at 12:30 pm at Paya Lebar MRT station where a male passenger dressed in a samurai outfit jumped the fare gate and brought a samurai sword on board our train. Our staff informed the police immediately. The male passenger was apprehended at 12:45 pm around Bugis MRT station, and the incident is now under Police investigation.
Passenger safety is our priority and we do not tolerate abhorrent behaviour nor allow offensive weapons to be brought on our trains. Passengers who witness such acts should activate the Emergency Communication Button to communicate with the Train Captain, who will in turn report the situation to the Operations Control Centre. Station staff at the nearest station will render immediate assistance and will alert the police and security staff.
Sword-wielding 'samurai' terrifies commuters on MRT
SINGAPORE - A man carrying what seemed to be a samurai sword was spotted on the MRT train at around 12.45pm today.
According to AsiaOne reader Julian Lim, the man boarded the train at City Hall station with three policemen following him.
He observed that when the policemen talked to the man, it just made him more agitated. He then pulled the sword out and pointed it at one of the policemen.
Seeing this, the people in the train backed off from the man.
He then alighted at Dhoby Ghaut station followed by the policemen.
Photos of the man were also submitted to citizen journalism website Stomp.
The contributor of the photos said that he saw the photos of Twitter.
"According to the person who tweeted the photos, the man was shouting and commuters were seen running to one side of the train in fear. Police officers were also called to the scene and were seen protecting these civilians," said the contributor in a phone interview with Stomp.
