Penang aid for Pahang flood victims

GEORGE TOWN (Dec 9, 2013): The Penang Welfare Department has sent its staff to help the flood victims in Pahang.

State Welfare and Caring Society committee chairman Phee Boon Poh said 15 welfare department staff have so far been sent to Kuantan to provide humanitarian assistance.

He said the staff were sent there once the department had ensured everything was back to normal in Penang.

Phee also called on the public and NGOs to donate clothes and toiletries for the flood victims in Pahang.

"We want to assist these victims who we fear are facing medical and sanitary problems," said Phee.

He said the public can send their donations to the Caring Society Complex between 8am and 4pm daily, and expressed hope that the aid can be sent to Kuantan in the next three days.
